Description   Fair Isle Knitting Patterns: Reproducing the Known Work of Robert Williamson by Mary Macgregor This is a workbook of traditional Fair Isle knitting patterns, reproduced by the author Mary Macgregor from original stenciled patterns produced by Robert Williamson. Robert Williamson (1885-1954) was by all accounts a master of many crafts and an early entrepreneur. Fair Isle knitting was one of his many interests and he collected patterns and printed them in standard exercise books using stencils. This book is a reproduction of the stencil printed patterns, probably from the 1930s, with these patterns being organised into families so as to be immediately accessible to the knitter. This book is not about technique or the history of fair isle knitting. It's strictly a black & white reproduction of some typical motifs used for fair isle knitting in Shetland.  There are also a number of tartan charts included in the book.
