These linen colored squares in the Aran patterning technique can be made to match the afghan exactly as presented, but the author, (instruction editor at "Knitter's Magazine") reminds us to be creative with these winning designs. Fewer squares make a baby blanket, more a bed spread, and one at a time make delicate pillows. The various cable patterns, designed by winners in the magazine's contest, are amazingly creative.
The 24 squares vary in difficulty and the easiest and hardest are listed, so if you are new to cable knitting, you can start with the easiest, learn as you go, and have a fabulous afghan at the end of your journey!
