Description   Imported from Great Britain, this is the traditional Guernsey yarn that was used for the original Fisherman's Gansey/Guernsey sweaters. So beautiful, with a durable firm twist in a 100% wool 5 ply yarn in 4 colours.  This is the yarn used by the British home front knitters in WWI and WWII to knit warm socks for their aviators.  This is not a super-soft yarn, but your sweater will last for years--and might be passed on to the next generation. This is best for stitch patterning in a medium to small gauge. Use a small needle for socks.  Not a bulky "outdoor" yarn--this one is wonderful for those times when you should really put on a sweater instead of turning up the thermostat!  Great used for sweaters and socks--see the Beth Brown-Reinsel patterns for ideas for this yarn. Swatch Test of Crimson vs. Altantic Blue May 26, 2010 Reviewer: Karen Holstein from Davidson, NC United States   Knitted 3-inch swatch of crimson and continued with Atlantic blue, stockinette stitch in the round on US #3 Addi Turbo circulars. Washed tepid, air dryed.  Stitches of Atlantic blue are noticeably more uniform throughout, even to the untrained eye of my husband.  Don't know if it's the difference in dyes or yarn batches.
