Classic Gansey Cardigan
What a beauty! This is the gansey adapted to a worsted/Aran weight cardigan. It has many traditional design details, and is suited to a few modern adaptations. Faster to knit at this gauge compared to a traditional gansey, but still has that gorgeous patterning and old world feel to it. Featured techniques include Reading Charts, Underarm Gussets, Raised Increases, and a beautiful buttonhole method. 5 sizes from small through 2X.
Finished sizes from 36¼ (40¼, 44¼, 48½, 53½) take approximately 1250 (1350, 1500, 1750, 2150) yards of heavy worsted weight/Aran yarn that is about 220 yards per 100g. Takes 1460 (1540, 1700, 1865) yards of a worsted or Aran (heavy worsted) weight yarn. Ideas for yarns include Wendy Traditional Aran, Ultra Alpaca, Gems Merino Worsted, Mountain Meadow Worsted, or Riverstone.
