Frangipani Authentic Guernsey Yarn Big project-sized 500g cones in classic and modern shades
Pure British wool beginning with the sheep and carefully prepared at every step on through to you. This special 5-ply wool is spun and dyed in Yorkshire in the mills that have for generations been supplying the very best of British yarns. For years traditional knitting of ganseys, Guernseys, Cornish Knit-Frocks and all fisherman's sweaters has been part of British history. In past centuries, knitters have used this wool to produce wind and water resistant sweaters for their fishermen in the frigid north Atlantic. Today, a traditional gansey is a work of art that deserves the very best wool available. Plan on 2 cones for a single color adult sweater.
Smooth and resilient, this worsted-spun wool is also suitable for sport weight, DK, and Light-Worsted weight projects, using the appropriate needle size. It can be used for lighter weight fabrics, those which can carry cables and heavy textures, stranded color work, two-sided double knitting, and even lace! This is a substantial wool that is warm, has stability, and keeps its shape even when knit at larger gauge.
Important Info!! We carry Beth Brown Reinsel's Gansey Book and DVD's, and Beth's Patterns too. We still have many of the Wendy Gansey patterns, and some books on Gansey sweaters. Also, don't forget if you are unsure about a color, we will send you a clip--just ask.
