Puna Baby Alpaca yarn
Puna is the quintessential luxury yarn for larger projects and garments. It is 100% Baby alpaca in a DK weight suitable for your favorite patterns. The natural variations in the fiber produce a lovely heathery shade in every hue. Puna in the native Incan language means "Andes mountain," the essence of Peru.
Baby Alpaca fiber has a diameter of 22.5 microns, which is equivalent to the upper limit of cashmere. This yarn has a very even 4ply spin, yielding a yarn approximately the same thickness as 8-ply, or DK weight yarn.
This yarn is a sumptuous choice for a larger garment or lace project. A size US 6 needle will produce a solid stockinette fabric that can be luxuriously worn next to the skin.
