Wild Wool is a sustainable blend of soft wool and natural nettle.

Spun from the fiber found inside the stem of the plant, nettle has been used for 2000 years for its strength and durability as a textile. Nettle is grown abundantly and perennially in rainy areas worldwide without the need for harmful pollutants or pesticides, making it eco-friendly and sustainable.
When blended with luxurious wool, nettle fiber enhances the character of this yarn by adding insulation, texture, and shine. Wild Wool yarns comes in a palette of irresistible colours inspired by nature.

  • 85% wool, 15% nettle (viscose)
  • US 7-9 needles

The yarn is very soft and colors simply amazing.. It is not the easiest to knit as it splinters and becomes fuzzy once unraveled, but I loved how knitted fabric looks and feels.

Love this color! Feels soft and squishy, yet stable. Unbelievable to think this is a yarn  combining nettle and wool. The only nettle I'm familiar with was the stinging variety I occasionally bumped into as a child.  (Ouch!) So it's good to know there's a softer side to nettles (fiberous inside) that can be spun into yarn.  Can't wait to combine it with a skein of  contrasting Traipse for a lovely, warm cowl.

This wool and nettle yarn is a pleasure to work with.  I received a hank in a bimonthly subscription and quickly crocheted a standup neck cowl.  The fiber allows for stitches to stand out and maintain their shape even after a good soak and block.  I was so impressed with this yarn that I ordered a hank in every color and will start making Christmas gifts for 2021.  Thank you!
