 The force behind Erika's yarn collection is to support the British heritage of textile mills and to promote native sheep breeds. From fleece to finished yarn in less than 50 miles, Wool Local is authentically British and environmentally sustainable.
Wool Local is an intimate blend of luxurious Bluefaced Leicester and hard-wearing Masham, in a fine 4ply weight, with its roots in the history and heartland of British wools.
This yarn is strong, light to wear and a pleasure to work with.

  • Suitable for standard gauge (4.5-5mm) knitting machines

I haven’t used my yarn yet, but I can say it feels nice and looks like it will be fun to knit.  My only issue is that of the six 100-gram skeins I ordered (two color ways), none was 100 grams.  I’m concerned that I won’t have enough yarn for the projects I’d imagined.  Four of the skeins each weighed 95 grams.  The other two weighed 90 grams each.  To me, that’s a substantial difference.  I’m not likely to ask for more.

5 of 5 A Place to Find Unusual Yarn August 30, 2021

I was looking for Wool Local yarn for an Erika Knight sweater pattern.  I ordered from Handknitting.  I received a call from Laurel to say that they had 6 hanks of the yarn I needed, but it was from two different dye lots, very close, though.  Fortunately, the pattern called for me to carry two strands.  Had Laurel not called me and gotten that clarification, she might have just sent a message saying “Sorry we don’t have 6 hanks of that yarn.”  Taking the extra step to call made us both happy.
I’ll definitely check with Handknitting first, when I buy more yarn.
