Available in over 40 shades is Lett-Lopi, which is half the weight of Alafoss Lopi. It is a perfect alternative for those who want the advantage of Lopi wool but prefer a lighter weight yarn. It's great for colorwork on cardigans and ski sweaters. Icelandic sheep fleece is double layered, and in the same way that the sheep are kept warm and dry, the wearers of Lopi can expect the same results. The wool of Icelandic sheep consists of two types of fibers, inner and outer. The inner layer of light fine fibers are soft and crinkly, insulating well against the cold, while the outer fibers are long and course and smooth - and as a result, water repellent. Moisture cannot penetrate, because it runs down the outer fibers. These fibers are irregular, and they create air spaces when that are loosely bound together. The two combined create a light but sturdy water resistant yarn.

I had an issue with one skein of yarn and I let Handknitting know, the issue was dealt with immediately and I received a replacement skein, no charge within days. I will be teaching an extension class at the local college, and I am recommending the students purchase all their supplies from Handknitting.

Scratchy? A little- but MAN does it knit up well and easily. This sweater is coming together twice as fast as my last one.

I have been working with Lopi yarn long enough to fall in love with it! All the colors are amazing and really knit up easily. Thanks to this website I was able to get some yarn. It was very hard to find due to color . Yarn was shipped extremely fast. Communication was excellent. Will be a repeat customer. This was my first purchase overall excellent!

I have just begun the Daytripper cardigan and find the fiber to be “sticky” (which should be helpful for the steeked edges) The yarn does produce a good fabric. The color photos on the website are pretty accurate (at least on my tablet) so I am getting the desired definition on the colorwork yolk. My swatch softened considerably after blocking.
